One Shot is one of the 17 novels written by Lee Child in the Jack Reacher series and it has been adapted to the action, crime, thriller simply titled Jack Reacher. When an ex-military sniper played by Joseph Sikora is blamed for shooting 5 people he asks for an ex-army MP named Jack Reacher played by Tom Cruise. Reacher shows up in the town and teams up with defense attorney played by Rosamund Pike to find out the facts but as the gang who is after Reacher to silence him finds out he will stop at nothing to uncover the truth. This sounds like an action film with Tom Cruise fighting, shooting and driving fast. Yes it does have a couple action scenes but it more about Reacher’s investigating skills. Here pieces of the puzzle are laid out and we follow Reacher’s logic as he puts them together and then acts on it. There has been discussion on how Tom Cruise who stands 5 foot 8 on a good day plays a 6 foot 4 character from the novel. Well Tom Cruise is a superb actor and plays a smart, calm calculating detective with an edge. (I can’t see his size but in the next Tom Cruise film I will be picturing him really big like the Incredible Hulk in my mind. This is one of the most fun, most entertaining films this year and I’m giving it a B rating.
This movie has been given a PG13 rating by the MPAA
Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
