With Bryan Singer directing a film people would expect plenty of action but in the Political thriller Valkyrie you will receive a good history lesson instead. Even though World War II was all but over in 1944 Adolph Hitler continued to fight the whole world. With hundreds of German soldiers dieing daily Colonel Claus Von Stauffenderg played by Tom Cruise plots to kill Adolph Hitler with the help of a group of top German officers in hopes of ending the war. The entire cast of this film is at their best, the plot flows smooth and a dramatic score is well utilized in this powerful story. Tom Cruise gave a fine performance but he didn’t really make the movie or break it. (Maybe a couple references to scientology or Katie Holmes would have earned him a couple laughs.) We don’t have to wonder if it’s going to win any awards because it’s to entertaining to be in that category. The one problem is it’s supposed to be a thriller with some suspense but even with some twists thrown in everyone still knows the ending. (Well except my wife and probably a lot of other women.) I’m giving this intense film a B+ rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
