Fear, courage and friendship are all emotions you will feel in the thrilling drama Ladder 49. Joaquin Phoenix plays a firefighter who responds to a fire in a 20 story building in downtown Baltimore. When the building collapses and he is trapped inside he reflects on his life as a firefighter while his chief played by john Travolta tries to coordinate the rescue effort to save his life. This film is compelling, intense and emotional. Phoenix is brilliant in this movie with Travolta doing a fabulous job in the background delivering moving speeches. Thank goodness this isn’t like Travoltas Battle field Earth where Blindness was definitely a blessing. This is one of the year’s best films and I’m giving it an A- rating.

This movie has been given a PG13 rating by the MPAA

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
