The Stepford Wives
Jays Rating: C. I had one eye open.
Actors: Nicole Kidman
Director: Frank Oz
With an outstanding cast director Frank Oz remakes the 1975 science fiction comedy The Stepford Wives. After a nervous breakdown the president of a television network played by Nicole Kidman is taken by her husband played by Mathew Brodrick to a small Connecticut gated community named Stepford. She becomes friends with a Jewish writer played by Bette Midler and they begin noticing all the wives in Stepford are compliant and blissful. This recreation is more of a comedy then the original. The script could have been a lot better and it felt like they pulled the ending out of their hat. What save this movie are the high quality cast of which some I already mentioned and many others along with Glenn Close and Faith Hill who was great as eye candy. Of course it’s candy I couldn’t enjoy. I’m giving this tongue in cheek comedy a C rating.
