The Last Stand
Arnold is back in his first leading role in 10 years since Terminator 3, Rise of the Machines with the action, crime, thriller The Last Stand. A ruthless drug lord played by Eduarda Noriega escapes from a police caravan led by FBI agent Forest Whitaker and rushes to the Mexican border in a corvette that can travel up to 250 miles an hour. (It’s a good thing they are trying to make this film realistic) Just before the Mexican border in Arizona is the small town of Somerton Junction with a sheriff played by Arnold Schwargenegger who with his small band of deputies will stop at nothing to prevent the drug lord from crossing the border. This is your typical Schwarzenegger film with fast cars, explosions, prolonged gun battles and cheesy one-liners. This movie is just a vehicle for Arnold to wet his acting chops and it is actually better then I expected. The movie is full of Schwarzenegger signature scenes and dialogue. Arnold pulls glass out of his leg, he has over the top action scenes and at one point when asked who he is he says “I’m the Sheriff”. (Okay it doesn’t sound that menacing from me but when Arnold says it) I’m sure most of the audience will go home scratching their head saying Why didn’t they just land a plane on the road instead of driving a car to the border but can you say entertainment? I’m giving this fun but forgettable film a C+ rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals. I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
