Red Dawn

Jays Rating:

If you are a guy who enjoys war violence and tons of action you will want to see the remake of the 1984 film Red Dawn. It’s a small town in Washington State and Chris Hemsworth plays a marine on leave from fighting in Iraq when North Koreans parachute into his town and the whole east coast of the U.S. He grabs his brother played by Josh peck, his brother’s friend played by Josh Hutcherson and several of the Wolverine football team and they escape to the mountains to fight a gorilla campaign and reclaim their town. Just to give a little background, this movie was filmed in 2009 before Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson became famous in Thor and The Hunger Games. Their acting is okay but who ever Josh Peck in one of the lead roles must have owed his mother a favor. (Unfortunately Peck wasn’t one of the first kids killed to put the audience out of their misery) As expected all characters were shallow and nobody really cares who lives or dies. You have to either laugh or cringe with some of the silly lines and ridiculous speeches but who really cares when it’s all about the action. (Okay I couldn’t see the North Koreans being shot but I could hear bombs going off and bullets flying around) Of course the patriotic story is a turn on for any red blooded male. I will give this film a C rating strictly for the entertainment value.

This movie has been given a PG13 rating by the MPAA

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
