Pitch Perfect

Jays Rating:

Mix a semi-raunchy comedy with a Glee like musical and you have the film Pitch Perfect. Anna Kendrick plays a freshman who goes to Barben University because her dad who is the dean of the school makes her attend even though she would rather go to Los Angeles to launch a singing career. In the first week two girls played by Anna Camp and Brittany Snow recruit her to sing in their a cappella girls singing group of misfits called the Bellas which is trying to win the regional a cappella contest. (Is it me or does every movie with a singing group in it trying to win a contest) This film is a toe tapper mixing songs from the 80’s and 90’s along with some funny one-liners and colorful characters. The most delightful is Rebel Wilson who shines as a bubbly Fat Amy who incidentally gives herself that name. (Even though I’m a blind movie critic I refuse to call myself Blind Jay) Even though this movie has projectile vomiting along with other gross out humor it isn’t near as crude as many other comedies. This film is so unoriginal up to the Bellas singing in the last contest and throughout the whole movie the story is all over the place. This is still a fun movie and its better then I expected and I’m giving it a C+ rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
