21 Jump Street

The television show from the late 80’s that made Johnny Depp a star was a drama but the film 21 Jump Street that was based on that show is actually an action-comedy. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum play two bumbling cops just out of the academy who are sent down to 21 Jump Street after messing up an arrest. Their new Captain played by Ice Cube sends them undercover to a high school as students to infiltrate and break a synthetic drug ring. This film is probably just what you would expect with crude jokes, car chase scenes and random gun play. I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was thinking is this going to be another Starsky and Hutch buddy comedy. Actually this was much better. One thing that helped was instead of trying to make it a believable story they poked fun at all of the clichés and there were plenty. Also Hill and Tatum had great comedic chemistry and it really sounded like they were having fun. There is also a cameo that the whole audience loved. (I’m sure nobody will be surprised who shows up) Yes the language was worse then it needed to be but I haven’t laughed so much in a film in a while. (Of course that isn’t saying much with the movies that have been showing) I will probably forget about this film before to long but as of now it entertained me and I’m giving it a B- rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
