Steve Carell and Tina Fey are a suburban couple who go out each week but one evening to prevent boredom in their lives they make a change and receive more excitement then they bargain for in the action comedy Date Night. The fun begins when they decide not to go to their normal steak house and visit a fancy Manhattan restaurant and when all tables are booked they take the reservations of another couple. Their trouble begins when two hoods come into the restaurant and accuse them of sealing a flashdrive from their boss and he want it back and they will stop at nothing to retrieve it. This film does have some action and humorous moments. Notice I say some because it isn’t packed full of action and no real hilarious scenes. Fortunately because it stays on a steady pace, ends right at an hour and a half and best of all has Carell and Fey as its leads the film is fun and enjoyable. The two have good comedic timing and fantastic chemistry together and you can really see them as a nice married couple who are really trying no matter how bored they are in their married life. (I told my wife she is lucky she has me to add a little blind spice to her life) Wit the two leads adlibbing when needed an a good supporting cast with actors like Mark Wahlberg this is a date film your parents can even attend. Once again not hilarious but entertaining and I’m giving it a B- rating.
This movie has been given a PG13 rating by the MPAA
Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
