Edge of Darkness
Based on a British mini-series of the same name the crime thriller Edge of Darkness is Mel Gibson’s first lead role since 2002. Mel Gibson plays a homicide detective whose only daughter played by Bojana Novhaovicand works for a secretive research facility is murdered in front of him. In his fury and grief he uses all his detective skills to go after the killer with the help and also hindrance of a mysterious figure played by Ray Winstone who seems to know everything. This film had its great action scenes but also some slow moments, it had some twists but was predictable and the plot was straight forward but it was still confusing. (Who were all of those characters and what were they saying in that terrible Boston accent) Basically this is Mel Gibson’s movie and with such a strong on screen presence it’s easy to see why he is so popular. (Almost as popular as a blind movie critic) The supporting cast was also good and Ray Winstone was perfectly cast for this role. Martin Campbell directed the original British mini-series and even some James Bond films and that helped with some of the action and suspense in this movie. This film has its pros and cons but it’s still entertaining and that tips it above average with a C+ rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
