The newest chick flick Love Happens has a small touch of comedy, is light on romance and seems to have the emotional scenes at just the right moments. When a self-help guru played by Aaron Eckhart, who helps people confront their pain, is in Seattle for a seminar he meets a florist played by Jennifer Aniston. The only problem is he secretly has not dealt with the death of his wife yet and she had sworn off men and wants to focus on her flower shop but sometimes Love Happens when it’s not expected. This is a charming film with a great supporting cast and solid performances by Eckhart and Aniston. If only there was some chemistry between the two leads or some chemistry anywhere. Maybe it was all of the clichés or possibly because it was so easy to see where the story was heading. I think there was a good story just below the surface but I’m afraid this movie will not receive much love from movie-goers. It could be a good date movie if nothing else but as usual my wife would not allow me to take a date. I’m giving this slightly above average movie a C+ rating.
This movie has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA
Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
