Bandslam

Teen stars from High School Musical and the Disney Channel team up in the Musical-drama Bandslam. Gaelin Connell plays a gifted teen songwriter who moved with his mother played by Lisa Kudrow to New Jersey to be recruited by a pretty senior played by Alyson Michalka to manage her high school band. While their band is practicing to win the rock and roll contest called Bandslam he begins to have feelings for a cute outsider played by Vanessa Hudgens at the school. This is a cute, upbeat film that receives promising efforts from its young cast. I really enjoyed the music which had an eclectic feel to it and thank goodness it never drags. Okay the downside is that it’s predictable, everything is tied together too neatly and it really unrealistic. No guy is able to practice making out with the prettiest girl in high school and it’s her idea. (I speak from experience that’s unrealistic) This movie could be viewed as a High School Musical rip-off but that would mean there could be no other films involving music and high school students and this may just be another surprise summer movie. I enjoyed this great family film that has some good lessons on friendship and I’m giving it a B- rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
