If you are in the mood for a chick flick this summer you will not want to miss the romantic-comedy The Proposal. Sandra Bullock plays a high powered book editor in Manhattan who is about to be deported back to Canada so she asks her assistant of three years played by Ryan Reynolds to marry her. He reluctantly agrees but first they have to go to Alaska to meet his parents and learn the specifics about each other lives to convince the immigration agent they are in love. Did I say reluctant to marry Sandra bullock? I can’t even see her and I’m married and I’m still in line. The story is nothing new when they meet his parents, act like they can’t stand each other, fall in love and live happily ever after. So why did I like it so much? All the characters are fantastic and the 87 year old Betty White steals the show as grandma. The chemistry is very believable between Bullock and Reynolds and there is a nude scene between the two that is so tastefully done. (I know you are wondering how I know it was tastefully done and as you can guess either my wife told me or I was brailing the screen) I think I had a big grin on my face throughout the whole film and I’m giving it a B rating.
This movie has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA
Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
