Pineapple Express

Talking about smoking pot or actually smoking it is the theme of the action comedy by the Apatow crew in Pineapple Express. When a stoner played by Seth Rogen witnesses a cop commit a murder he drops a small amount of pot he was smoking and runs to his dealer played by James Franco for advice. The cops, who are actually part of a mob, track the stoner the dealer and another friend played by Danny R. McBride from the rare pot called Pineapple Express and try to kill them. This film has car chases, stoner jokes, physical comedy and yes lots of pot smoking. I know my I.Q. is higher then my eyesight (that’s not saying much) so I ask myself why did I enjoy this movie. Most of it comes down to the interplay between the to lead characters. They improvised a lot of the dioluge and it feels like the relationship is genuine. The action really wasn’t needed but some of the over the top scenes were hilarious. This is low-brow humor and everybody knows it going in to the theater. I’m giving this stoner comedy a B- rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
