The latest live action film is painted into a cartoon world through CGI was initially a 1960’s animated Japanese series called Speed Racer. Emile Hirsch plays the fearless race car driver “Speed Racer” who drives for the Independent Racer Team run by his pop and mom Racer played by John Goodman and Susan Sarandond. With the help of his girlfriend played by Christina Ricci and a mysterious Racer X played by Matthew Fox they all take on the evil empire on and off the track. As you can guess the plot and story line are so invisible that even if I had sight it would be impossible to find but this movie is all about special affects. Everything is over the top from the dialogue to loop –loop race tracks and even the purple skyscrapers and pink helicopter. “My wife said the helicopter was the same color as my pants but I think she was just trying to scare me.) The action was fun and intense but at 2 hours and 15 minutes it is about 30 minutes to long. The kids loved it so I will bring it up to a C+ rating.
This movie has been given a PG rating by the MPAA
Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
