American Gangster
Jays Rating: A. So good blind people like it!
Actors: Denzel Washington / Russell Crowe
Director: Ridley Scott
Ridley Scott directs an exciting film based on a true story from the early 1970’s titled American Gangster. Denzel Washington plays a hoodlum who buys cocaine in Bangkok then smuggles it to America in coffins of dead soldiers returning from Vietnam. Russell Crowe plays a Manhattan cop who heads up the new drug enforcement police to stop all of the pure cocaine called “Blue Magic” saturating the streets of New York. Even though this film has plenty of action it’s primarily a plot driven film. Crowe and Washington carry the movie but the acting all around is outstanding. This is a thinking mans movie but it’s also entertaining with a superb climax. If only they would have cut out the unneeded courtroom scenes where Crowe’s Character fight for custody of his son it would also have helped with the long running time. (If I want to see entertaining courtroom drama I will watch Judge Judy.) This is an intriguing film and I’m giving it an A- rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
