Adaptations from Broadway musicals to the big screen have been popular in the last couple years but you won’t find any better then the film Dream Girls. Jamie Foxx plays an ambitious manager who helps bring three girls played by Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Hudson and Anika Noni Rose from the projects of Detroit to stardom. Eddie Murphy plays a singing star who is friends with the girls when one of them is pushed out of the group while the other one takes the spotlight. This is a fantastic film that hits the ground running from the first musical number of a wonderful soundtrack and fantastic performances by an ensemble cast. American Idol Jennifer Hudson singing is absolutely breath taking while Beyonce performance is spectacular and I’m told she looks beautiful throughout the movie. (My wife told me if I could see her I wouldn’t be listening to her sing). The producing, directing and editing also make it an extraordiniary film and I’m giving it an A rating.
This movie has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA
Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
