Based on the Documentary by the same name the film Gridiron Gang is an inspirational true life story about young gang bangers, thieves and killers who learn to work together on the football field. Dwayne Johnson AKA The Rock plays Sean Porter a counselor at a juvenile detention center who realizes that what they are doing at the center isn’t working because 70 percent of the boys who leave are reincarcerated. He wants to teach the boys that they aren’t losers so he helps them form a football team called the Mustangs. I like the way that this movie doesn’t sugarcoat the way the boys talk and act while also showing their emotional side. The Rock is made for this role because of the strength of his character and it’s easy to see why the boys listen to the real Sean porter. The reason is probably because he is so big that they are afraid he will beat the crap out of them. This film is a little violent in the beginning but I still enjoyed it and I’m giving it a B rating.
This movie has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA
Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
