It was only a matter of time before the disaster film The Poseidon Adventure of 1972 was remade into an action movie called Poseidon. During a New Years Eve party a rogue wave hits the cruise ship Poseidon and turns it upside down. A gambler and Navy veteran played by Josh Lucas and a former fire fighter played by Kurt Russell lead a rag tag group of passengers to the top or should I say the bottom of the ship to free them before it sinks. This film is full of intense action scenes with one disaster to overcome after another. Unfortunately those technical aspects are the best qualities of the movie. There is no human interests, no back story and no character development so you can care less which of the group live or die. Worst of all some of the scenes were so unbelievable they were funny and the dialogue like “There is a pressure valve it needs a lot of pressure” made me wonder what kindergartner wrote the script. That’s like saying I’m not visually impaired; I’m just blind in one eye and can’t see out of the other. For some reason with everything that is wrong I still liked this popcorn flick and I’m giving it a C rating.

This movie has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
