If you like Bruce Willis in his over the top police roles you will probably want to see the crime thriller 16 Blocks. Bruce Willis plays an over weight alcoholic NYPD detective who is asked to escort a fast talking felon played by Mos Def 16 blocks from the policed department to the court house. The bad news is that he is to testify against some local policeman and a small band of rogue officers trail the duel to kill them. The performances by the leading actors were great in this film and the story begins with a lot of promise but ends as a typical action flick. The writing had its highs and lows but most of all Mos Def’s nasal voice made me wish I could change my hearing for my eyesight. This film had several weaknesses but I still enjoyed it and I’m giving it a C rating.
This movie has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA
Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
