Jays Rating: C. I had one eye open.
Lately there have been a rash (maybe that’s why I’m scratching my head) of romantic-comedies about interracial relationships and here comes another one called Something New. Sanaa Lathan plays a beautiful woman who is a senior manager at a prestigious accounting firm and is to busy working to find a date. That is until she meets a landscape architect played by Simon Baker who she really falls for except for the fact that he is a different race then her. This film is formulaic, predictable, obvious and yes I’m saying it’s nothing new. The ending is also silly but at least the chemistry between the two lead actors worked well. This isn’t a bad movie but I wouldn’t see it a second time. (You got me I didn’t see it the first time) I’m giving this so-so film a C rating.
This movie has been given a PG13 rating by the MPAA
Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
