Just in time for Navy week comes a drama about the struggles of becoming a navel officer in Annapolis. James Franco plays a young man who is accepted into Annapolis navel Academy but is thinking of quitting because of his tough company commander played by Tyrese Gibson. He works hard and begins believing in himself and with the help of his beautiful military superior played by Jordana Brewster he trains to box in the legendary Brigade Championship. Even though I liked this film I can’t think of any redeeming qualities. Jordana Brewster is miscast, the romantic relationship is corny, the story is formulaic, the characters are one dimensional and I’m not sure if it’s a boxing or military movie. You may be asking if it’s so bad how could I possibly enjoy it. Hey I’m blind, what do you expect. I was entertained and I’m giving it a C rating.
This movie has been given a PG13 rating by the MPAA
Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
