Cinderella Man
Jays Rating: A. So good blind people like it!
Actors: Russell Crowe
Director: Ron Howard
Ron Howard directs the best film of the year so far with the inspiring drama Cinderella Man. (Okay the title doesn’t sound too exciting.) In this true story Russell Crowe is the boxer Jim Braddock who along with his faithful wife played by Renee Zellweger have to fight to keep the family together during the Great Depression. His luck changes when another boxer cancels his boxing match and Braddock’s manager played by Paul Giamatti volunteers him to fight as the underdog and he makes a run for the heavy weight title. This is a fantastic film with just the right touch of humor, romance and even some thrilling boxing scenes. It’s brilliantly directed with Russell Crowe superbly morphing into his character. This period piece is Sea Biscuit without a horse. (Well that’s a little closer than comparing me to Daredevil without a red suit.) This is not only a well made movie but it’s also a crowd pleaser and I’m giving it an A rating.
This movie has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA
