Just in time for Valentine’s Day is the romantic-comedy 50 First Dates – a date movie guys and girls will both enjoy. A marine veterinarian named Henry Roth (Adam Sandler) works at Sea Life Park in Hawaii during the day and dates vacationing women in the evening. Henry’s life changes one morning while eating breakfast at a local restaurant. He sees a pretty woman named Lucy (Drew Barrymore) playing with her waffles. He introduces himself, they hit it off and they make plans to get together. They meet the next morning at the same restaurant, but she has no ideas who he is and he thinks she is trying to give him the brush-off. Sounds like some of my dates when I was younger. Henry finds out she was in a car accident the year before and she has lost her short term memory. She doesn’t remember anything from the day before. Henry introduces Lucy to a penguin, a walrus and a guy named Ula (Rob Schneider) who work at the Sea Life Park. Even though two of them are animals, they all seem to have the same intelligence in my opinion. Henry begins filming their time together and introducing himself to her on that same film. He shows it to her the next morning so she falls in love with him over and over again. This is a tender, charming film with great site gags and funny one-liner. The plot is unique and the chemistry is perfect between Sandler who is funny and Barrymore who is sweet and hot. (How do I know she’s hot? I was up front brailing the screen.) This film may not be an Academy Award nomination but I enjoyed it and I’m giving it a B rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
