The live action film that all the kids have been waiting for is here! Dr. Suess’s The Cat in the Hat. Sally (Dakota Fanning) and Conrad (Spencer Breslin) are home alone on a rainy day and there’s nothing to do but stare at their fish. All of a sudden, a magical cat with a red and white striped hat appears. Yes, it’s the Cat in the Hat. Just like the book with the same name, the Cat in the Hat begins messing up the house much to the enjoyment of Sally and Conrad. When the fish says the Cat in the Hat is trouble and must leave, the Cat puts him in the toilet (no flushing.) I thought Cats ate fish. When the Cat in the Hat introduces the children to Thing 1 and Thing 2, the situation really deteriorates and the Cat must go, go, go! Not only does the Cat in the Hat refuse to leave after destroying the house he takes Thing 1 and Thing 2 and goes outside to continue his antics. This film is full of fun and excitement for the kids. I only laughed once or twice and was glad when it was over. Mike Myers is usually funny but in this case they should have named this movie “Idiot in Fur”. I really wanted to like this film but it’s definitely not for the mature movie viewer. I would like to end with a little Cat in the Hat rhyme. I’ll think of the Kids and I will be kind, it gets a C rating because I am blind.

This movie has been given a PG rating by the MPAA

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
