The latest chick flick, Just Married, is a cute romantic-comedy about a young couple who marries against the wishes of the girls family. Sarah (Brittany Murphy) is the daughter of a wealthy Beverly Hills attorney marries a lowly radio host named Tom (Ashton Kutcher). Sarah’s father pays for a honeymoon in Europe and that’s when the problems begin. They’re kicked out of their hotel even before their honeymoon night begins (sounds like my luck) because Tom tries to force something into an electrical outlet causing an electrical short in the entire building. Evicted from the hotel, they spend their wedding night in the car after slamming into a snow bank. They finally arrive in Venice, France, only to learn that Sarah’s ex-boyfriend Peter is also staying in their hotel. I know it sounds corny, but wait. They have the quintessential lover’s quarrel that results in Tom going to a sports bar. He meets a wacky American girl who follows him back to his hotel r oom. Of course, he doesn’t tell her he’s married and the problems intensify when Sarah thinks Tom cheated on her. Okay, maybe it’s corny after all. The script is pretty lame and the plot is formulaic and predictable. The acting is adequate and I even laughed a few times, but I don’t think I would knowingly spend $8.00 for a ticket to see this movie. In fact, I should get in for half price since I can’t see it (maybe I should wait for the video). This film is some-what entertaining at best and I give it a C rating.
