Austin Powers: Goldmember

Jays Rating:

Mike Myers is back as Austin Powers, Dr. Evil, Goldmember, and the infamous Fat B-stard in the sequel called Goldmember. Austin Powers has been around so long he should be called Oldmember. As a result of his actions in the last movie, Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) and Mini-me (Verne Troyer) are in jail. They manage to break out and – believe it or not – they want to take over the world. (What a shock!) First they have to deal with their archenemy Austin Powers (Myers) who is accepting an award. He scans the audience to look for his dad Nigel Powers (Michael Caine) only to find that he’s not there. Nigel has been kidnapped by none other than Dr. Evil. Side note: while all this is going on Fat B-stard (Myers) is wrestling a Sumo wrestler and Scott Evil (Seth Green) is trying to take over the Evil organization from his father. With the help of the newest Austin Powers babe, Foxy Cleopatra (Beyonc Knowles) Austin jumps back and forth through time (more often than most people change their underwear) to find Dr. Evil and the newest Austin Powers character, Goldmember (Myers). With all the characters this movie offers it’s missing one crucial thing – a plot. Of course, this is the type of movie you watch for a few laughs. The number of which are lower then the I.Q. of my guide dog. Don’t get me wrong, some parts are very funny and there were a few great cameos, but it’s the same crude humor and silly sight gags. This third Austin Powers installment is about as good or bad as the first two and I give it a C rating.

This movie has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
