If you want to see a silly, off-the-wall comedy about a boy in a bubble who takes a road trip across America, you may want to check out Bubble Boy. Jimmy (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a boy born with out an immune system who has to spend his life in a sealed room. During his high school years, the girl next door named Chloe (Marley Shelton) begins spending time with him, and Jimmy thinks he’s in love. One day after they finish high school, Chloe tells Jimmy that she is going to Niagara Falls, and 3 days later she’s going to marry one of her high school boyfriends. After she leaves he realizes that he loves her and doesn’t want her to marry someone else, so he builds a bubble that will enable him to survive in the outside world. (Here’s a thought: since the bubble is self-contained, how does he breathe, eat and go to the bathroom?) During his trip to Niagara Falls he comes into contact with a variety of people. He thumbs a ride with an Indian who hits a cow and f reaks out because he thinks he’s killed one of his relatives. Similar scenarios take place as he befriends freaks, bikers, rednecks, and a few other special people. Well, they did leave out blind movie critics. All things considered, this film is cute and in an odd way entertaining. It’s a goofy movie, but I enjoyed it and gave it a C rating.

This movie has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
