If you’re a fan of science fiction television shows, you won’t want to miss Galaxy Quest. In this spoof of the sci-fi genre, Tim Allen is Jason Nesmeth, an actor who plays the role of commander Peter Quincy on a television show named Galaxy Quest. Jason loves his role as Commander Quincy and he and his crew love to mingle with fans during Galaxy Quest conventions. His second in command Lt. Tawny Madison, played by Sigourney Weaver, claims that Jason takes his role as the Captain too seriously. Sound confusing? (Imagine not being able to read the credits like me.) During one of the conventions, aliens visit Jason and tell him they need his help to save their world. Jason thinks figures they’re just a group of overzealous fans in costumes, so he agrees to let them transport him to their spaceship. The aliens – not knowing Jason isn’t a true galactic hero – have built a working replica of the spaceship from the TV show. Jason is so excited he goes back to earth to bring Tawny and the rest of his crew. When he describes the aliens to them, they think Jason is talking about another convention so they follow him to outer space and the adventure begins. This is a great film for both kids and adults. Even Star Trek fans will love the space battles and the limp attempts at alien humor. Personally, I enjoyed the aliens. They sounded like Klingons who were wearing their pants too tight. I give this sci-fi a B rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
