If you like Saturday Night Live the film Superstar is a must-see. Well in my case, a must-hear. If you’re not a fan you may think this movie superstinks. In this Saturday Night Live skit made for movie, Mary Katherine Gallagher, played by Molly Shannon is a catholic schoolgirl who has dreams of becoming a superstar. The high school she attends is putting on a talent show and she decides to enter it. A couple of the popular girls in the school try to discourage Mary by calling her names and playing practical jokes on her. Sky, the high school hunk, played by Will Farrel sees her being harassed, comes to her defense and much to Mary’s pleasure, notices her. It’s a good thing he didn’t notice her when she was nervous and smelling her fingers after they were in her armpits. In fact I’m glad I couldn’t see that part either. Now that she has Sky’s attention she really has to become a superstar. She enlists the help of her grandmother to put together a show with Mary as the superstar and her friends as the supporting cast. This is a comedy that has many funny, but goofy scenes, for example Mary making out with a tree. It did actually have a plot, I just needed my white cane to find it. I didn’t go to this film with high hopes so I wouldn’t be disappointed. I enjoyed it anyway and gave it a C rating.

This movie has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
