American Pie

A movie you don’t want to see for enrichment, is American Pie. In this comedy, four teenage boys make a pact to lose their virginity before they graduate from high school. One of the boys named Kevin, has a girl friend who wants to hear those three little words, “I Love You” before she gives in. Another boy nicknamed “Oz” is a lacrosse player who has his sights set on a naive, innocent choirgirl. The two most colorful characters are Finch and Jim. Finch is a nerd, who with the help of a girl in his class, begins a rumor about how great he is with the women. (I wish I would have started a rumor like that when I was in high school.) All of the girls want to go out with him until someone slips a laxative into his cappuccino and he makes a mad dash to the restroom – the girls restroom. Trust me – the sound effects were TOO realistic! In the meantime, Jim is on the hunt for any girl he can find. He asks a girl in the band who begins every sentence with “This one time, in band camp…” to accompany him to the prom. My wife was in band in high school, and she still talks like that. Jim thinks he struck out until she tells him about her flute. Everyone who has attended public high school can relate to some aspect of this movie. That is, everyone except me. There wasn’t a cool blind guy being led around by cheerleaders in this film. There is no great message hidden in this story. In fact, the moral to this story seems to be: “Even losers have sex.” This movie is raw and graphic, but it’s also hilarious and fun. Only see this film if you want to be entertained. I had to leave my brain at home along with my eyes. I give it a B rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
