Lethal Weapon 4

A good movie to see this week -if you like sequels- is Lethal Weapon 4. (If they make any more sequels to this movie, the lead actors will need canes to maneuver around.) In this film, Police Sergeants Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh, played by Mel Gibson and Danny Glover respectively, discover a cargo ship smuggling Chinese immigrants into the United States for slave labor. While the captives are being unloaded Roger discovers an entire Chinese family named Hong, hiding in a lifeboat. Fearing their deportation, and unaware that the Chinese Mafia was after the Hong’s, Roger hides the family in his home. The funny thing is, they always show the family cooking in Rogers kitchen. Maybe he just likes Chicken Chow Mien. The Chinese Mafia eventually learn that Roger is hiding the Hong family – duh! They show up at Roger’s house, exchange punches, kicks, and threatening looks, tie-up Roger and Martin, set the house on fire, and run out the front door. Roger and Martin escape of course, and in a ridiculous chase scene -from what I could hear- tried to apprehend the bad guys. This movie was kind of corny, but it was also full of action, humor, and a lot of fun to watch. Note: the language was so bad, if they had said the “F” word one more time, I was going to put my large, double-butter-soaked popcorn bag over my head. I give it a B rating.
