A scientist builds 9 little stitch cloth robots to live through the destruction of the world in the animated, sci-fi film 9. 9 (Voiced of Elijah Woods) and his 8 robot friends fight and run (if you want to call it running on short stubby legs) from evil machines after the destruction of the world. The nine robots attempt to figure out the secret of their existence while struggling to keep their souls from being sucked out by the mechanical monsters. This film is very original, has a great score by Danny Elfman and most unimpressive to a blind critic but everyone else raves about it’s great visual technique. It also has a well known but not to famous voice cast including Jennifer Connelly, Christopher Plummmer and the creepy voice of Cristian Glover to name a few. Even though the script is creative it’s not inspiring and has no real character development even though the title is the name of a character. Also who is the target audience? Adults will not go to an animanted film and it’s to dark for the kiddies. (It’s only darker for me then the kids) It’s just one step up from taking the children to one of the new extreme boxing matches with all of the violence. As one of the producers, Tim Burton’s unique style and design shows through as expected. It’s actually nice to see something new so I will slip this film up to a B- rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
