Shark Tale

Both kids and adults will enjoy the animated undersea film, Shark Tale with an all star cast providing the dialogue. Always dreaming of bigger and better things, Oscar (Will Smith) is a bottom feeder who works at the local “Whale Wash” with his friend Angie (Renee Zellweger). He’s having a particularly bad day when a huge shark spots him. Oscar swims frantically for his life when something tragic happens to the shark. Unaware that the dead shark was Frankie, the eldest son of local mob boss Don Lino (Robert De Niro), Oscar sees a chance to make it big, so he poses as the killer and adopts the name Shark Slayer. His newly found fame comes with perks – like a seductive fish named Lola (Angelina Jolie) but things go from bad to worse when the Godfather brings his mob family to settle the score. Oscar enlists the help of Lenny (Jack Black) who is different from other sharks because he is gentle and a vegetarian to help him out of his jam. (He also crosses his fins when he sits and wears costumes to look like the village people.) This film is full of sight gags and spoofs on movies like Jaws and The Godfather. You might wonder how I would know a sight gag. When I hear a loud noise, a big bubble and all the kids laughing I know a whale just let one go. If you don’t compare this movie to other animated films, you’ll find it entertaining and amusing. I predict a Shark Tale 2, and I’m giving it a B rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
