A classic that won’t put you to sleep is Sleepy Hollow. In the late 1700’s, a New York detective named Ichabod Crane played by Johnny Depp, is sent to a small town in upstate New York named Sleepy Hollow. Bodies had been found without their heads and Crane is sent to find out who is responsible for the murders and how they are being committed. (My guess is that it’s someone with a very sharp object.) He begins his investigation with the daughter of the wealthiest man in town, beautiful Katrina Van Castle played by Cristina Ricca. That’s exactly who I would have started with, too. Crane hears that a headless horseman has committed the decapitations. I was wondering, if he is headless, how can he see to ride the horse? I’m blind and I think I would have trouble. Crane believes these are just rumors until he is walking just outside of the town with another man, and the headless horseman appears. The horseman bears down on the 2 men and slices the head off of the other man, picks it up, and rides off leaving Crane standing alone and unharmed. The question is answered. There is a headless horseman, but why is he only going after certain people? This is a dark, moody film that skillfully inter-twines mystery, thrills, and horror with humor and wit. I didn’t lose my head over this movie, but I did give it a B rating.

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
