Dumb and Dumber To

It’s been twenty years since the Farrelly brothers directed the classic, Dumb and Dumber, and they’ve returned with the original cast in Dumb and Dumber To. Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) has been in a hospital ward for the past 20 years and when he finds out his best friend Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) needs a kidney, he admits he’s been faking his illness. (It seems Harry has been changing Lloyds diapers for the past 20 years.) Harry soon discovers he has a daughter by his old girlfriend, Fraida Feldher (Kathleen Turner) so he and Lloyd go on a road trip to find her and ask for one of her kidneys. (This is just dumb – dumber is coming.) They track down a 22 year old woman named Penny (Rachel Melvin) who is about as dumb as Lloyd and Harry, but is really cute and innocent. Now, let’s get straight to the business of who will really enjoy this film. If you’re in your twenties, you’ll probably like the toilet humor, seeing a woman in her underwear, and really stupid one-liners. Fans of the original Dumb and Dumber movie will also want to see what happened to their heroes during the past 20 years and what they’re up to now. Some of the jokes are really funny while many of them fall flat, but you can tell Carrey and Daniels had a lot of fun making this film. If you like a little blind humor (maybe I’m the only one), the blind boy is back and now he’s a blind man. This movie isn’t a masterpiece and it’s not going to win any awards. In fact, it’s kind of annoying at times. Just try to go for the entertainment and keep an open mind; you may find yourself chuckling hours later when remembering the one-liners like I’m doing. I’m giving this dumb film a C rating.
